Keeping with the many mermaid themed products this month is the Deborah Lippmann Mermaids nail polish collection.
I REALLY wanted to get this collection back in April/May when it first came out but it appeared to sell out on Ulta.com almost immediately. When I contacted them about when it would be restocked I got no response. I held out for as long as I could before I caved and just purchased it from the Deborah Lippmann Online Store.
The collection is based on and is an extension of the original polish Mermaid's Dream which is my favorite nail polish ever. So when I heard that there were more colors like it I pounced. The colors are even more beautiful in person; I can't stop staring at my fingers when I wear these.
Let your inner mermaid shine with this gorgeous collection of glitter polishes.

As you can see from the swatches the polishes have a somewhat textured finish because of the different types of glitter. Mermaid's Dream and Mermaid's Eyes have the most color and were fully opaque at two coats while the other three needed three or more to reach full opacity. Mermaid's Dream and Mermaid's Eyes seem to have a thicker base color that is metallic as compared to the other three which have a thinner almost jelly like base color. I was a bit disappointed in Million Dollar Mermaid because it was the one I was looking forward to the most and even at three coats it wasn't opaque and the glitter in it did not spread very well; I had to spread it by sort of dabbing it on in places that were splotchy. Other than that all the colors were easy to apply, not streaky or overly thick, just a very nice application. Even with this new collection Mermaid's Dream is still my favorite, but these are a lovely addition.
Overall, I really like this collection and I hope that there will be more colors like it in the future. Keep up the good work Deborah Lippmann!
