Julep Maven November Box Opening Part I

The "Right at Home" collection is inspired by fall colors and the Thanksgiving holiday were people return to their family home for the feast.  A traditional American Thanksgiving includes colorful foods and centerpieces with motifs of cornucopias and turkeys.

Julep has updated the box selections for this month by changing the Upgrade Box to the Ultimate Box which includes everything available for the month including nail polish and products.  Julep is starting to accommodate their customers with more choices of boxes.  They still have the Upgrade Box which now only includes the nail polish collection, the lip primer, one lip gloss and a sample of the skin serum.  The regular monthly boxes include two nail polishes, a lip gloss, and a sample of the skin serum except for the It Girl (polish only) box which includes three nail polishes and the Modern Maven (product only) box which only includes the lip primer, a lip gloss, and the skin serum.

This repair serum is more like a facial oil than a serum.  It is oily and does not sink into skin like a serum should.  However, it was hard to get a proper sample of this product from the packet because it just oozed out and I tried to scoop it back in with my fingers to no avail.  It did leave my skin moisturized feeling because of the oils.  I used this overnight and did see some improvement in skin tone and texture the next morning.  My acne scars felt a little bit smoother.  I am still on the fence about buying this product even with the 30% off coupon.  This product retails for $28.00 USD and with the Maven discount is $22.40 USD, plus the 30% discount would make the cost $15.68 with free Maven shipping.

Julep Blank Canvas Plumping Lip Primer

The Julep Blank Canvas Plumping Lip Primer is a pale pink colored primer that comes out of a click-pen with a doe-foot applicator.  Frankly, it was disappointing.  Application was patchy and it left uneven spots after lots of layering, plus it was too wet to layer anything over it.  It did plump my lips a little bit, but it took about five minutes before I started to feel a slight tingly sensation.  The pale pink color might not work for darker skin tones.  It would have been better if it was clear or more skin tone colors were offered.

They are all very nice glosses that are easy to wear for everyday, even the red and the berry colors.  I think Posh is my favorite and I have been wearing it over the past week.  It is the perfect lip gloss for fall and winter.  Daring is a very easy to wear red for those who shy away from reds.
