When a company releases "waterproof" makeup it just begs the question: How waterproof is it? Well I put the new Aqualillies for Tarte collection to the test.

The Amazonian clay waterproof eye and cheek palette includes 6 eyeshadows, a blush, a bronzer and a highlighter.  This palette features mostly neutral shades that are easy for everyday wear and one blue shadow for a pop of color.  The palette also comes with a how-to card featuring two different looks.

Here is the palette in daylight without flash.

Here is the palette with the flash on.  As you can see the "Aqualillies for tarte" insignia is carved into the blush so it will probably last for a while through many uses.

Look #2: Splish Splash

One hot and humid weekend a couple of weeks ago I decided I needed to cool off at the pool. It was the perfect opportunity to try out this palette. I tried the "Splish Splash" look without the lipstick because I was in such a hurry I forgot to put it on.

I was in the pool for about 30 minutes; This included being fully submerged at times. After about the first 10 minutes I got out and went to the bathroom to check and see if the makeup was still on and to my surprise it was; I could see the eyeshadow, especially the darker crease shade.  After 30 minutes it was hard to tell because this look is quite neutral to begin with (the lightest shade is almost the same color as my skin.) The blush and bronzer are natural looking and the blush is not easy to see even on my light skin; It does not build very well either which is strange considering how pigmented it looks in the promo photos. Pretty much the only thing I could definitely tell was still on me after 30 minutes was the black eyeliner and the mascara.

I have worn this palette in hot and humid weather since and I think it is better suited for that than being in the pool. While it is a fun idea to have actual waterproof makeup, it's not that practical because I would want to wipe the water from my eyes but that meant I was probably wiping away the makeup. Overall I really like this palette and I can tell that it will be getting a lot of use this summer.
