Revlon Colorburst Balms for Fall 2013

Due to the popularity of Revlon's Balm products, they have decided to release a collection for fall featuring two new finishes: matte and lacquer.

At first I was only going to get one of each type of finish, because I need more lip products like I need a hole in the head, and while I like the original Revlon Balm Stains and Kissable Balm Stains they dry out my lips.  I originally purchased Coquette (lacquer) and Shameless (matte) from the small display at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but when I saw the larger display at CVS Drugstore I caved and purchased three more.

You can tell the difference between the Lacquer Balms and the Matte Balms by the packaging: the Lacquer Balms are shiny and the Matte Balms have matte packaging obviously.

As you can see from the pictures, they are the same size, shape, and application as the Kissable Balm Stains. They have the same minty aroma as well which is also similar to the Tarte Lipsurgence products.

The safety seals on these products are not very well thought out;  It is a simple sticker that is easy to remove and replace so that someone picking up the product at the drugstore would have a really hard time knowing if the product had been used simply by looking at it.  You would need to open them to make sure.  I prefer the safety seals on the Kissable Balm Stains because you have to rip them off in order to use the product, assuring that it has not been used.

Here are the swatches side by side on my wrist for comparison.  They have a good amount of pigmentation and are easy to apply.

Mischievous is a bright peachy-orange color; Audacious is a bright red-orange coral; Coquette is a bright bubblegum pink; Enticing is a deep red; Shameless is a fuchsia based purple

Here are some lip swatches so you can see how they wear.

I prefer the Lacquer Balms because they are easier to apply and are less drying;  It could also be the colors I chose because I think the pink and red look the best on me personally.  I do like how the Matte Balms look on my lips and they have great pigmentation except for Shameless which applied very patchy;  Shameless left darker and lighter spots of color on my lips plus the color is just too dark for me (all the colors are more vivid and slightly deeper in real life than they appear in these pictures.)  I did not choose traditional fall colors, but Enticing and Shameless seem like they would work well for the season.  Enticing is my favorite of the bunch and the one that I will wear the most.
